RUGA SETTLER COLONIALISM; THE IRISH HISTORICAL PERSPECTIVE |
Between 1536 to 1691, the Republic of Ireland was conquered and annexed into the United Kingdom by the King of England as part of the colonies of the English. The Irish were a different Ethnic group completely different from the English in culture, language and ancestry. Even though the Irish and the English had the same religion which was Christianity they belonged to different christian sects.
The Irish were Catholics while the English were Protestants.
The first thing that was done by the English to make sure that the conquest of Ireland was permanent was to import Settlers from England and Scotland who were majorly Protestants into Ireland. They gave the new settlers one fifth of Irish land. When the Irish people revolted, the English crown responded with force and awarded four-fifth of the land to the Scottish and English settlers. This made many Irish peasants to migrate to America, many became destitute and many others died of plagues and starvation.
It was not until 1922 that the Irish people started the war of Independence to free their Homeland from English oppression and occupation. The Republic Ireland was able to declare their Independence after so many years of oppression under the British crown. Unfortunately for the Irish, the area of Northern Ireland which was historically and politically Irish land had millions of descendants of the English and Scottish settlers whose allegiance was to the Buckingham palace in London. The English used this people to bargain and argue that Northern Ireland should never be part of the republic of Ireland. Till date, Northern Ireland is part of the United kingdom and it is the hotbed of Irish Nationalism.
The same tactics is currently been pursued and propagated by the Fulani Oligarchs in Nigeria. The Fulanis are presently the supreme overlords of the Nigerian state and they believe that the Fulani agenda is also the Nigerian agenda. That is why the Northern establishment are always chorusing the Nigerian Patriotism mantra and the need to protect and pamper the Fulani Ethnic group as the protector and national glue of the Nigerian state. The RUGA and cattle colony agenda was to replicate the actions and tactics of the English to annex and subjugate the Irish people. Millions of Fulanis from all over west Africa are about to be settled into every nook and cranny of Nigeria especially in the rebellious and volatile South under the guise of ending Farmers-Herders crisis in Nigeria. It's an act to annex all the Southern and middle belt lands into the Unitary Nigerian state under the guise of One Nigeria in order to further and solidify the claims and rights of the Fulanis as the overlords and crown prince of the Nigerian state.
I hope we have learnt a lot from the Irish people and their sufferings under British imperialism and in comparison to the present Fulani Nationalism and hegemony in Nigeria.
