Update on Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s Case

Routine visitations to Onyendu Mazi Nnamdi Kanu continue without disruption, as his legal team successfully completed a critical meeting today.

The primary focus of the discussions was the upcoming court date concerning the progression of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu's case. Addressing constitutional concerns, Onyendu has directed his legal team to take decisive actions to ensure that Justice Binta Murtala-Nyako does not preside over the matter.

It is important to recall that Justice Murtala-Nyako officially recused herself from this case on 24th September 2024, in compliance with a valid court order. Any attempt to return the case to her bench would constitute a direct violation of that order and raise serious concerns about judicial integrity.

The legal team has reaffirmed its readiness to proceed with the case, provided a new judge from the Federal High Court is appointed. If no judge in Abuja is willing to accept the case, the Chief Judge is urged to reassign it to another Federal High Court in jurisdictions such as Umuahia, Awka, Enugu, Asaba, Port Harcourt, or any location within the former Eastern Nigeria where the alleged offenses are said to have occurred.

The legal team remains steadfast in their commitment to upholding justice and ensuring the case is handled with full transparency and constitutional adherence.
