Protests in Biafra

Half a century after the war, angry Biafrans are agitating again

MOST Nigerians do not remember their country’s civil war. A large majority were born years after the 30-month fight between Nigeria and the breakaway region of Biafra, which ended when the secessionists surrendered in 1970. Yet over the past month independence protests have erupted in cities across the south-east, where the self-declared state once was. Agitators say that this time they will not be beaten. “Biafra is a country to be restored,” declares one of them. “We are determined to fight to the end.”

This is a concern for Nigeria’s new government. Secessionist organisations in Biafra have been agitating for years, but analysts reckon the scale of the current marches is unprecedented. Superficially, they were sparked by the arrest of Nnamdi Kanu, the outspoken head of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) movement, and director of Radio Biafra, a pirate station. But the grievances run deep.
Nigeria did not exist until British colonialists drew a line around hundreds of fractious ethnic groups dominated by the Igbo in the east, the Yoruba in the west, and the Hausa-Fulani in the north. The country’s regions have jostled for power ever since. Predominantly Igbo protesters have not forgotten that tens of thousands of their people were killed before Biafra unilaterally declared independence in 1967. Between 1m and 3m people died during the war, many as the rebel territory was starved into defeat. In the 45 years since the war ended, they feel they have been blocked from senior political posts, denied public services, and impoverished by a post-war programme that they say auctioned off their houses and returned just £20 ($320, in today’s money) to them.

In the presidential election in March most south-easterners voted for the incumbent, Goodluck Jonathan, who comes from their region. He lost to Muhammadu Buhari, a Muslim from the north. “#NigeriaWillRot”, Mr Kanu’s radio station declared after the results were announced. Politicians have fired up impressionable agitators by claiming that the new government is marginalising Igbos, says Nnamdi Obasi of the International Crisis Group, a think-tank. In the oil-rich Niger Delta, a revolt beginning in the 1990s was focused more on winning power and a share of the spoils than on ideology. Many analysts think the same is true today.

So far the demonstrations have been mostly peaceful, though locals say shops have been looted and tyres set ablaze, and protesters claim police have killed several of their crew (the police deny those charges). That could change if Mr Kanu is killed or mistreated by Nigerian security agents. Boko Haram sets an unhappy precedent. The Islamist movement became a full-scale insurgency only after its leader, Mohammed Yusuf, was shot in police detention in 2009. Another worry is the impending end of a six-year-old amnesty for militants from the Delta. They could return to violence if it is not extended next month, spelling wider instability in the region.

Mr Kanu is not averse to playing with fire. He called for arms earlier this year and an unverified Twitter page in his name is full of extreme rhetoric and images of mutilated Biafrans, which Mr Obasi says often seem to be fake. Last week, his radio station inferred from a Boko Haram bombing that the “killing of Igbos in large scale has already commenced”. Many of his followers speak with an equally intimidating tone. “Give us Biafra or we all die getting Biafra,” one of them proclaims.

The real concern is not alleged government brutality but poor governance. Despite huge oil wealth, Nigerians were twice as likely to be poor in 2010 as they were in 1980. Frustration is not confined to the south-east. Poverty and joblessness have driven conscripts into the arms of Boko Haram terrorists, who want to establish a caliphate in the mostly Muslim north-east. Insurgents battled for self-rule in the Delta until they were paid to stop. Over the years, too many of Nigeria’s politicians have been too busy filling their pockets to think of solving the common underlying problems, ignoring them until they got out of control.

EVENTS BEHIND THE PLOT BY DSS TO TAG IPOB A TERRORIST GROUP EXPOSED!!!

Investigation has revealed the reason behind the show of shame by the Terrorist Nigerian DSS to tag a peaceful IPOB a terrorist group. It has also revealed the names of Buhari’s puppets who are being used to mastermind this shameful plot.

Our reliable source from Aso Rock has revealed that as Nnamdi Kanu’s Appeal Court case which is coming up on 25th of April draws closer, Buhari and his cohorts are panicking as it is very much certain that Nnamdi Kanu is going to be granted bail as the Nigerian government has no tangible evidence to counter Kanu’s bail and open trial appeal. As a result of this, Buhari and his allies are now desperate to influence the three trial judges psychologically or by any other workable means possible. This is why they concluded that by accusing IPOB of terrorism activities across the country through their rag-tag DSS, it could help them to persuade the three trial judges to find any available legal clause in order to sanction the continued incarceration of Prince Nnamdi Kanu.

To achieve perfect implementation of this evil plot, the Nigerian government has employed the services of Samson Babalola a Kogi born conquered slave of Hausa/Fulani who is to act the script of raising an outcry through his fraudulent group powered by his already paid media henchmen of Yoruba and Hausa extraction. They are expected to organise a protest march against IPOB and also threaten to drag IPOB to International Criminal Court in Hague. It is noteworthy that Babalola have launched into action already as Vanguard has reported their threat to drag IPOB to ICC a day after the planned Press Release of Nigerian DSS In conjunction with Babalola and his group are some top South-East and South-South politicians which according to our source are topped by the names of Hausa fathered Rochas Okorocha and Buhari’s puppet of Rivers State- Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi who was hand-picked by Buhari as a result of his perfectly executed task of unleashing mayhem on the Biafran people of Rivers State during the  inconclusive re-run election in Rivers State.

At their meeting in Aso Rock with Buhari’s DSS, Rochas Okorocha was asked to notify the Governor of Abia State- Okezie Ikpeazu of their plot which entails the use of the mass grave where Nigerian DSS, army and police dumped some of the Biafrans they massacred as venue where they’ll stage the alleged killing of Fulani herdsmen. Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi on the other hand was tasked to provide some paid thugs who will testify to the DSS claiming to be IPOB members who were sent to kill the herdsmen.

A further investigation revealed that the bounce of the whole kangaroo plot became burst when Rochas Okorocha couldn’t meet up on time with Okezie Ikpeazu Governor of Abia before the DSS headquarters in Abuja in their excitement rushed to their media henchmen to spill the garbage. It was after Governor Okezie Ikpeazu and Abia State chapter of DSS denied that such a thing as killing of herdsmen happened in Abia State that they were informed of the game being played by which time its already too late.

Our reliable source has disclosed that the DSS who has already put themselves in a burning furnace in Nigeria and the international community as a result of this their latest goof from their unscrupulous allegation on IPOB are now desperate to save themselves of the impending show of shame and will be making use of their Amaechi provided thugs as the IPOB members who carried out the alleged attack on fulani herdsmen having been given ultimatum by IPOB to prove to the world how they came about the conclusion that it was the Indigenous People Of Biafra that carried out the attack on the herdsmen.

Meanwhile our reliable source has also disclosed that Samson Babalola who is desperate to please his pay masters has already started organising a protest against IPOB in Abuja. This protest is going to be covered by government owned media houses and some paid private Hausa and Yoruba journalists’ in order to put IPOB in a bad light across the world.

Having uncovered this dastardly plot of the Nigerian government against IPOB and her amiable leader Nnamdi Kanu, Family Writers wish to use this opportunity to alert the entire world to take notice and hold Nigerian DSS,Buhari,APC and Mr. Samson Babalola  responsible for any reprisal killing of Biafrans in the Northern part of Nigeria as a result of their acts of desperation to jail an innocent Nnamdi Kanu. Family Writers stands for truth, justice and freedom, we shall continue to expose the atrocities of the zoo called Nigeria to the entire world. No tyrannical or dictatorial tendencies of Buhari and his sponsored terrorists the DSS shall deter us.http://www.igberetvnews.com/3319

THE INVASION OF KANU'S PRISON ROOM AND MATTERS ARISING.

THE INVASION OF KANU'S PRISON ROOM AND MATTERS ARISING

By Chijioke Ifeanyi
For Family Writers

Just yesterday the information came with great apprehension of fear; calls coming and going while people were shivering; questions without answers and tears already trickling down. “Has it happened? So that IPOB will learn their lessons. I told you to campaign against peaceful approach and you disagreed" a diehard Biafran told me over the phone. When the news of Kanu's prison room invasion came; I first doubted it until I received a confirmation call that DSS really invaded Kanu's prison room. “I could not sleep last night; I was frightened all night long" Carol Munday said with strings of disbelief; she must have really forced herself to wake up from a dream but disappointedly, she was not asleep; the information is real. As at this moment, the tension is still brewing in IPOB and Biafrans are wailing and screaming that their leader has been poisoned or injected a substance.

The DSS are trading without caution and endangering everything it should protect.  This desperation raging from accusation of IPOB as behind the kidnap of five Fulani herdsmen to invasion of Kanu's prison room, as the accusation of IPOB failed, the desperation also pushed them to physically attacking Nnamdi Kanu. However, the information reaching Family Writers from our reliable source has it that Nnamdi Kanu was knocked out and forced unconscious as he was not aware of anything that happened to him. As DSS is trading without caution and desperate to kill Nnamdi Kanu, it is important to remind them what is at stake.

There is a conviction that Nnamdi Kanu has been poisoned by the DSS and as it stands,  the people of Biafra should stand on their feet for the worst. There have been beliefs that IPOB to have chosen peace is weakness and that killing their leader will yet go like Sarowiwa. As the end is drawing closer, the greatest shame that will befall IPOB is if Nigeria is not destroyed now and after Biafra is restored.

While we are waiting for the death of Nnamdi Kanu, let mourners start mourning and let brave men start preparing. I hold it firm in my own capacity that peace is not the way forward for Biafra restoration.www.radiobiafra.co

The Untold Story Of British Sponsored Terrorism and Mass Murder in Africa: By Okonkwo Isaac Somto.

Nigeria is a country that was created artificially by British colonialism. Nigeria consists of Arewa, Oduduwa and Biafra.  The trick of British colonialism was the divide and rule system. They knew the nature of Nigeria; that it is a country that doesn’t have the same climate, the same religion, the same mentality, the same dialect, and the same culture. They used their military might to force Nigeria to be one by the amalgamation of the southern and northern protectorates of Nigeria.
harold wilson

They gave the Fulani emirs political prominence at the expense of the Southern population and left a time bomb with the fuse burning. During the coup that saw General Gowon came into power, the British High court commission in Lagos after the meeting with the coup leaders came out in their full support – including their demand for recognition of the dominance of the North in any political process. All the regions excerpt the South Eastern region – where the former governor, Colonel Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu, remained in command with his troops and refused to recognize the new dictatorship. Gowon taught that British imperialism liked him and that was why they would support him to fight a war against Ojukwu. But he failed to understand that Britain and America were only interested in stealing Nigerian oil.

Britain who knew that failure to stop Biafra will result to a brand new world for Africa and a more dominant Biafra republic will shape a new dawn for Africa decided to do everything in their power to prevent that from happening. Knowing how intelligent, brilliant, smart, hard-working and powerful the Biafran people was, Britain stood with Nigeria to fight against them just because they feared that Biafra was capable of creating a reliable, respectable, inventive and powerful Nation that will cripple their influence in Africa.

Chinua Achebe author of "THERE WAS A COUNTRY" said- "Let me give one more dimension of what we were hoping to do in Biafra, and what this freedom and independence was suppose to be like. We were told, for instance, that technologically we would have to rely for a long, long time on the British and the West for everything. European oil companies insisted that oil-industry technology was so complex that we would never ever in the next five hundred years be able to figure it out. We knew that wasn't true. In fact, we learned to refine our own oil during the two and a half years of the struggle, because we were blockaded. We were able to demonstrate that it was possible for African people entirely on their own to refine oil. We were able to show Africans could pilot their own planes."-Chinua Achebe.

As you could observe during the civil war Biafrans scientist were able to invent a lot of things, they could build their own weapon, cars, rockets, bombs, telecommunications gadgets and also devised an ingenious strategy to refine their own oil, all this was accomplished in less than two and a half years, something the Nigeria Government haven't done for more than fifty (50) years now. If you recall the OGBUNIGWE, those of you who don't know what that means should ask the Nigeria army and her armed forces, they can never forget what OGBUNIGWE did to them. Biafran scientists invented the bomb called OGBUNIGWE, the bomb was a complex three-chamber apparatus that often included delayed action devices containing a propellant, an explosive substance-often gunpowder in an igniting base- and scraps of metal for maximal effect. OGBUNIGWE bombs struck great terror in the hearts of many Nigerian soldiers and till this day, they still fear what that bomb did to them.

Even though the Nigeria army was well equipped and had the support of the British, America, Russia government, they still feared the inventions and the weapons of Biafran scientists. What Biafran scientists achieved during the civil war, mesmerized the British Government and since then they have vowed to never give Biafra the chance to prove their capabilities to the world. Imagine we got Biafra during the 1967 civil war the whole of Africa would have been liberated and wide-open to a whole new world of dependability. If Biafra had existed before now, there wouldn't be any darkness but light in Africa, Africa wouldn't depend on Europe, Britain or America for technology and inventions.

We would have been able to do all those things ourselves and that was what Britain feared would have happened if the allowed the Republic of Biafra, they knew the Biafran people were strong, smart and brilliant enough to create a Nation of total freedom and dependability for themselves and not rely on Britain or Europe for everything. That was why Britain made sure they gave Nigeria every support they needed to destroy that hope and dream, they stood with Nigeria and massacred over 3.5million Biafrans just because they feared what the Biafran people could achieve, they feared that soon Africa through Biafra will discover for themselves that everything Europe, America and Britain told them was a very BIG LIE! Biafra would have been the light of Africa, a new Beginning for Africa, Africa would have been liberated and totally free through Biafra but Britain fought so hard to make sure that wasn't possible by killing Millions of Biafra who wanted to be free from their enslavement. Africa till now is still a slave to their colonial Masters, that's the truth whether you like it or not. Nigeria is the so-called giant of Africa because of the Britain, Britain is still in full control over the affairs of Nigeria and they keep deciding what goes on in Nigeria. Those who are insentient, cold-blooded, unaffected keep saying Biafra is Dead but deep down they know Biafra is Never Dead because the spirit of Biafra still lives in all Biafrans and as long as Biafrans live Biafra lives.

Biafra has come to stay and there is nothing the British-Nigeria government can do about that. Even though Britain and Nigeria tried to commit an unthinkable act by trying to exterminate the Biafran race during the 1967 civil war they failed. Biafra can't be killed because Biafra is a spirit. So instead of fighting to keep en-slaving the Biafran people in Nigeria, Britain should give them their freedom because Nigeria and Britain will never be at peace until they let Biafra go. I OKONKWO ISAAC SOMTO am saying to the British-Nigeria Government, LET MY PEOPLE GO! We won't rest or sleep until Biafra is actualized. We will make sure that BIAFRA will one day be called a NATION, and anyone that keep trying to stop Biafra will be swept aside. God bless you all and bless the FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF BIAFRA (ISE!!!).www.biafranism.com
