 Biafra: Buhari Told To Release Nnamdi Kanu Immediately, Stop Destruction Of South-East. Human Rights Writers Association of Nigeria, HURIWA, on Sunday, said President Muhammadu Buhari and his administration must release the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu forthwith, and stop “long term destruction of the South-East”. HURIWA, in a statement by its National Coordinator, Comrade Emmanuel Onwubiko, said the “abduction” and perennial detention of Kanu since he was brought back to Nigeria in June 2021 were illegal and inconsistent with international human rights practices. HURIWA dismissed the verdict of Justice Binta Nyako, which it said offends international law and international human rights law.                  The Ala-Igbo Development Foundation (ADF), after a careful and critical review of the police invasion of  the home of Barr. Ifeanyi Ejiofor, the IPOB lawyer in Ifite- Oraifite Community in Ekwusigo LGA of Anambra State, which led to arson and vandalization of property as well as the brutalization and killing of innocent citizens, wishes to state as follows: 1. That the police action executed on Monday, 2nd December, 2019 under the guise of looking for Barr. Ejiofor was an unnecessary act of impunity which only succeeded in visiting mayhem on the community instead of promoting law and order in the area, which should be the primary mandate of the police force. 2. The Federal Government  and the Inspector- General of Police should set up a Judicial Panel of Inquiry to investigate the immediate and remote causes of such a vicious act of carnage and violence in the ancestral home/ private residence of a legal practitioner and the entire community.

December 4, 2019     IPOB LAWYER, BARRISTER EJIOFOR The Human Rights Writers Association of Nigeria, HURIWA, on Wednesday called for the “immediate dismissal” of the Anambra State Police Commissioner, John Abang. F ifty years ago, a young man fighting on the side of Biafra during the Civil War entered record books when a Saladine Armoured tank was named after him,post humous. Corporal Nwafor, of B Company, 29 Battalion, 54 Brigade under 11 Division became a dead hero among his people. It was June 30, 1968. Brothers, Nigeria and Biafra, were at war. Federal troops were advancing to Onitsha from Enugu, shelling and firing from tanks. At Ugwu Nwasike, Ogidi, about 20 kilometres to the commercial town, the overwhelmed Biafrans were almost giving up when Nwafor hit target. He fired the only anti tank weapon available to the entire brigade, a 73mm bazooka and it hit an advancing saladine. A second tank which tried to engage reverse gear fell into a ditch.
